15 Minutes of Fame

A piece constructed to compliment and enhance a show with no rules or expectations.15 Minutes of Fame is a response to a call for invitation in which artist Hennessy Youngman opened the doors of the Family Business Gallery ( a Chelsea Gallery 520 West 21 Street, New York, NY ) to any person who wanted to contribute any and all kinds of work to the show. The space itself is only the size of a large walk-in closet. The show was the spectacle and my goal was to create an setting to help accentuate the opening and the crowd at the festivities. With a gas powered generator, construction work lights and scrolling LED signs, the party expanded into the middle of the street on opening night. I called every food truck in NYC, eventually finding one, who believed enough in my story, to come to the opening and serve Indian food to hundreds of patrons. In the process of all of this, my assistants and I applied temporary tattoos to hundreds of spectators to deliver them their "15 Minutes of Fame" in the spotlight. And so it happened.
